ABOUT
Ready for a snowmobile adventure in the Polar night?
Join our accessible shorter snowmobile trip towards the Pingo.
This intrapermafrost ice-cored hill is located about 20km drive from town into the valley.
We pick you up from your accommodation and drive to our basecamp. Here you will get all the needed gear for this trip and our guides will give you a proper instruction and
explanation about how to drive.
When we are ready, we head out into the valley through the Polar night.
Maybe you are lucky to spot some ‘daytime’ Northern lights during your drive!
When we reach the Pingo our guide will explain you more about this periglacial landform, whilst we enjoy our hot drinks and snacks.
On our way back to town we will drive through the valley of Adventdalen and we will make a short stop at the old airport of Longyearbyen.
This shorter snowmobile trip is the perfect match for those who like to experience driving a snowmobile in the Polar night!

What to bring
Warm clothes under your snowmobile suit (preferably several layers of wool), a pair of thin gloves or mittens to wear under your driving mittens. Down jackets, etc. are not recommended under the snowmobile suit.
Our snowmobiles do not all have storage boxes, so we recommend that you bring a small backpack for your camera, extra clothes, etc. We recommend that everyone drives their own snowmobile, as this is easier than traveling with a passenger.
Remember to bring a driving license for a car, motorcycle or snowmobile valid for Svalbard!
Important to know
This trip is dependent on weather and ice conditions. You are not allowed to drive without being able to present a valid driver's license which is valid in Svalbard – your tour will not be refunded if you fail to do so.
If you are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, you will not be allowed to join and will not receive any refund. If we need to adjust our planned route due to safety reasons, we hold the right to do so. Your safety is our main concern.
There is no reimbursement if we need to.
We reserve the right to refuse you to join our activity, if you do not arrive properly prepared in terms of clothing when we pick you up.
Your safety is our main concern.
There will be an option to lower your liability in case of damage to our snowmobiles for an additional fee. This will be presented to you during the safety instructions at our basecamp.
Age limits
Minimum age 6 years. All under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Children who are not able to sit as a passenger need to take seat in the heated sled.
