ABOUT

I must be dreaming - what an experience! - 2 day Arctic snowmobile expedition going SOUTH

Ready to explore unknown routes? Immersing yourself into the Arctic wilderness, driving up to remote and more unknown areas, away from the crowds!?

Join our 2-day snowmobile expedition towards the Southern part of Spitsbergen, with Camp Morton, visiting an ice cave and passing by Barentsburg as one of our highlights during this tour.

This expedition is for those who seek to drive beyond the “regular” tourist destinations and prefer traveling in a small group.

It is showtime!

Early morning we will pick you up from your accommodation to transfer you to our basecamp where we will get ready for our expedition. We will provide you with all needed equipment such as suits, boots, helmets, balaclavas, mittens and goggles. After a safety instruction from your guide we are good to go! We will drive outside town into the Adventvalley and it won’t take long before we leave this large valley behind us an make a turn into the valley called Todalen. From here we will have two days remoteness and pure Arctic beauty around us!

Along our way we will make several stops to enjoy the nature around us, your guide will tell you more about the area we are in and we will enjoy a warm lunch and drinks along the way. Driving over a glacier, passing through deep valleys, reaching the sea ice are one of the highlights of our day. We will make our way towards Van Mijenfjorden for a great view over the fjord. Don’t forget to be on the lookout for wildlife as many wildlife tracks have been seen here. At the end of a fantastic day outdoors we will stop at our wilderness camp for a welcoming warm meal and a good night sleep. Enjoy the warmth of the stove in our tent and take a goodnight sleep as tomorrow is another full day of adventure! Don’t forget we all need to participate in our Polar bear watch at night.

I don’t want to go home..

After cozy night sleep, breakfast and a warm coffee are there and we are good to go. Today we will explore even more the Southern parts. We will make our way towards an ice cave for a visit. Did you know that this ice dates back to thousands of years?! You will be impressed!

Driving back along the coastline we will pass by great viewing points and the mining town Barentsburg. This will be a full day exploring the Arctic before we make our way back to town. We will enter town driving up a massive glacier giving us the perfect view over Longyearbyen to end our snowmobile adventure. Back into cellphone reach we can’t wait to share all great photos with our loved ones at home!

You will have a ton of stories to tell and great memories for a lifetime.

It is not an issue if you do not have previous snowmobile experience. We will give clear instructions and we will start easy to get you into the flow!

You can either drive your own snowmobile or if you book with more than 1 person, share one (it is possible to swap along the way).

What to bring

Warm clothes under your snowmobile suit (preferably several layers of wool), a pair of thin gloves or mittens to wear under your driving mittens. Down jackets, etc. are not recommended under the snowmobile suit.

Our snowmobiles do not all have storage boxes, so we recommend that you bring a small backpack for your camera, extra clothes, etc. We recommend that everyone drives their own snowmobile, as this is easier than traveling with a passenger.

This trip is dependent on weather and ice conditions. You are not allowed to drive without being able to present a valid driver's license which is valid in Svalbard – your tour will not be refunded if you fail to do so.

If you are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, you will not be allowed to join and will not receive any refund. If we need to adjust our planned route due to safety reasons, we hold the right to do so. Your safety is our main concern.

There is no reimbursement if we need to.

We reserve the right to refuse you to join our activity, if you do not arrive properly prepared in terms of clothing when we pick you up.
